Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Vidyalaya App ("we", "us") collects and uses information through the VidyalayaApp Parent and VidyalayaApp Teacher mobile apps and the VidyalayaApp web application (together, the "Service"). The Service is provided to schools and the parents and staff they authorize.

Information we collect

VidyalayaApp Parent app. To grant access to a student's information, the app collects:

• The student's registration / admission number and date of birth, used only to verify the request against the school's records;
• The parent/guardian's name and (optionally) phone number;
• A randomly generated device identifier stored on the device;
• A push notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging) so the school can send notifications.

VidyalayaApp Teacher app. Staff sign in with a school-issued account. The app stores the staff member's authentication token and a push notification token.

The Service also processes school data that staff enter (attendance, exam marks, homework, announcements) so it can be displayed to authorized users.

How we use information

• To verify and grant a parent access to their own child's information;
• To display attendance, exams, homework and announcements to authorized users;
• To send push notifications you or your school have enabled;
• To keep the Service secure and working correctly.

Sharing

We do not sell personal information. Information is visible only to the relevant school's authorized staff and to the parents approved for a given student. We use Google Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver notifications; its handling of message tokens is governed by Google's privacy policy.

Data retention

Student, staff and access records are retained for as long as the school uses the Service. Push notification tokens are removed when a device is unregistered, when access is revoked, or when they become invalid.

Your choices & deletion

• A parent can stop notifications by disabling them in the device settings or uninstalling the app.
• A school administrator can revoke a parent's access at any time, which also removes that device's notification token.
• To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, contact us using the details below or via your school.

Children's information

Student information is provided and controlled by the school. Parents access their own child's information only after the school approves the request. We process this data on the school's behalf.

Security

Tokens and identifiers stored on the device are kept in encrypted storage. Data in transit uses secure connections (HTTPS) in production.

Changes

We may update this policy; the effective date above reflects the latest version.
